Kaydell Brown had hoped cosmetic surgery would help rebuild her life.

But when she flew to Turkey to get her tummy tuck, liposuction and a Brazilian butt lift, the mother of two landed up dead with bits of her organs missing.

ClinicExpert in Istanbul is denying any “malpractice” in the death of the 38-year-old woman in their recovery rooms, who was left with missing portions of her organs and a flurry of unanswered questions around her death.

The Turkish plastic surgery clinic told Brown’s grieving relatives that her organs may have gone missing during the autopsy. The clinic said it handed the body over “untouched” so it believes the government coroner’s office removed the organ parts “in the process of determining the cause of death”, reported The Mirror.

Despite denying responsibility for the mother of two’s death, ClinicExpert said the surgeon who operated on her no longer works for the firm.

The statement read: “ClinicExpert has been performing aesthetic surgeries for Turkish and international patients [for] 13 years. It performed slightly over 23,000 aesthetic surgeries. Unfortunately, we lost two aesthetic surgery patients in 13 years. Two is a very big number for us, and for the loved ones of patients.

But two over 23,000 is 0.000087 mortality rate. This rate is far below the international averages in most developed countries and most advanced hospitals. Our medical director and medical board reviewed the case. We didn’t conclude any malpractice in Kaydell’s loss.”

Brown’s 40-year-old sister Leanne, who flew to Turkey with her sibling with the intention of having the same plastic surgery, said: “I miss talking to her. She was the funny one. She was talented and a good mum.”

Leanne lambasted the Istanbul clinic as a “pop-up butcher shop that needs shutting down”, telling ITV News that shortly after medics informed her about her sister dying she was handed an envelope of cash as a refund and was booked on the next flight out.

She said: “It’s like, ‘Sorry she’s dead, here’s your plane ticket’.”

The British government is supporting Kaydell’s devastated family, with the Foreign Office confirming that 28 Brits have died after having cosmetic surgery in Turkey since 2019.

The British government said their sympathies are with the family of Kaydell Brown adding that the UK government has been actively engaging with the Turkish government on how to support the safety of patients who travel to Turkey for medical treatment.

“We urge anyone considering a cosmetic procedure abroad to research the treatment, the qualifications of their clinician and the regulations in the country they are travelling to,” it said.

Perhaps people just need to give up with these unrealistic beauty standards that cost a fortune, and in tragic cases, a life.
