British culinary legend and TV maestro Jamie Oliver has landed in the Mother City, causing quite a stir.
Known worldwide as ‘The Naked Chef’ for his bold and flavour-packed approach, Oliver has been spotted chowing down at some of Cape Town’s most prized Eat Out star restaurants this past weekend.
Oliver’s not just an icon behind the stove; he’s a relentless crusader for healthy eating and food education. His influence reaches from the cafeterias of schools to Mzansi’s own shisa nyamas, making sure that fresh, wholesome meals are on everyone’s menu.
So, what’s brought Jamie all the way to our shores? Eat Out is on the case, but in the meantime, why not take a gander at the hot spots he’s already graced with his presence?
Oliver popped into TTK Fledgelings, a sweet little restaurant in Woodstock that offers a unique dining experience along with an upliftment programme that empowers aspiring chefs to hone their skills. Seems to be Jamie’s cup of tea, through and through.

Under the masterful guidance of renowned chef and restaurateur Luke Dale Roberts, students now hone their skills in the very spot that once showcased his legendary multi-award-winning restaurant, The Test Kitchen.
Then, the British chef had a spot to eat at PIER (part of the La Colombe group), situated at the V&A Waterfront and known for its sophisticated seafood dishes.
PIER restaurant is led by John Norris-Rogers, 2022’s Eat Out Woolworths Financial Services Chef of the Year.
The world-famous chef has pulled through here before, once even taking two lowkey Capetownians to work under his wing in 2005. Mkhanyiseli “MK” Kapa, a former street child, and Enoch Zaleni jetted off in July 2005 to spend a month training at Oliver’s London restaurant, Fifteen.
What a mensch. We’re glad to see he’s been treated well on this trip.
