British grime rap star Skepta has titillated both music and streetwear fans alike with an announcement this week that he will be dropping his first-ever full PUMA collection.
We haven’t been treated to a full collection, let alone a collab item, from Skepta X PUMA since he signed with the iconic brand and launched a pair of sneakers in 2022.
Born Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., Skepta has long been known as a style icon, mixing grime culture with finesse to create his signature streetwear looks that have fans the world over begging for more. And now, he’s finally giving us the most!
Skepta has been teasing the champion item in his new PUMA collab, the SKOPE sneaker, to followers on X since the beginning of this month, even though we can only expect the full collection drop on 18 May.
The SKOPE sneaker proves that PUMA is the ultimate streetwear brand choice to bring Skepta’s visions to life. The rapper shared two versions of the design recently via X, and fans struggled to decide if they preferred ‘flash’ or ‘no flash’.
We’ll have to agree with one of the top commenters – both, it depends on the mood, duh!

Clearly, Skepta is passionate about this monumental collaboration from the effort he and the PUMA team have put into the project. PUMA worked with Skepta tirelessly to create a shoe that would truly reflect his energy as a performer, even taking the grime artist through their archives in 2022, for some creative brainstorming.
Skepta was most inspired by PUMA’s 2006 PG Mesh silhouette during the process, and behind-the-scenes footage has been released, showing off the early design process of the 2024 SKOPE shoe. Driven by the naughties nostalgia of the PG Mesh, all that was left to do was for Skepta to bring his personal modern edge to the sneaker design.

This collab is a match made in heaven, and we know we’re not alone when we say we could listen to Skepta talk about shoes all day in that lilting accent.
Mark your calendars; there are only four more sleeps until all the Skepta X PUMA goodies drop online on 18 May 2024.
In the words of Skepta himself, “These are fire”.
