Saint Patrick’s Day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and, by extension, celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. In the centuries hence, it has become a tradition to wear green duds on the day to avoid being pinched by leprechauns, who according to folklore are blind to anyone wearing green.
