Following hot on the heels of South African tourist Nobanda Nolubabalo’s dreadlock cocaine bust in Thailand, reports today reveal that at least three other SA citizens have been busted for drug trafficking in the last week. So if you’re travelling internationally this holiday, don’t drop dead with surprise if you’re searched at customs, particularly if you’re a young female. And definitely don’t be carrying any drugs.
A young South African woman will appear in a Zimbabwean court tomorrow after she was apprehended at Harare International Airport for “transporting” two kilograms of cocaine. She is suspected to be a mule linked to a Johannesburg-based drug lord.
Just days ago, Promise Mpala, a 26-year-old South African, was caught with drugs in her luggage at Maputo airport, and last week, 38-year-old Nene Fikile Happy-girl, also a local, was arrested when police found tik on her person at Lagos International Airport.
