“Sometimes you may be so rich that money loses meaning.”
A superyacht called the Multiverse caught the eye of one Redditor who was surprised to come across such a mammoth with two smaller boats on board.
The whopper was spotted in Fort Lauderdale, the ‘Venice of America’, which houses over 50,000 boats and yachts. However, the gigantic motoryacht Multiverse can not be ignored, even in Palm Beach, Florida.
This $275 million behemoth (dare we translate that to the humble Rand), formerly known as Ulysses under previous owner Graeme Hart, was spotted where expensive yachts are a dime a dozen.
It stands out like a sore thumb thanks to its humongous size and stunning black hull, which also grabbed the spotlight with two smaller boats stored near the ship’s bow.
The 116-metre expedition yacht, constructed by Kleven in Norway and designed for extended voyages, perpetually loaded with a lot of gear, is now owned by billionaire Yuri Milner, notes Luxury Launches:
From several tenders, a helicopter pad, and a variety of water toys, the Multiverse Yacht cruises with an arsenal for enjoyment in unexplored locales around the world.
While the bow is loaded with smaller crafts and tenders to transport guests, the aft is an epitome of extravagance with spacious lounge areas, a swimming pool, and top-class amenities. Inside the yacht, guests are entertained at the wine bar, the cinema, a sauna, and the commodious gym.
An image of the Multiverse Yacht at Fort Lauderdale was shared by the r/Anticonsumption Reddit community with a snarky comment:
The post got several reactions from the commentators shocked by the extravagance, with one stating, “The yearly maintenance cost on these things is astronomical and they’re really not used much”. The costs are eye-watering, it’s true.
Another person said “I feel like an island would be a really practical alternative to something so outlandish”, while another wrote, “When you have so much money and you don’t know what to do with it, that’s when you buy a yacht.”
Someone else quipped that it’s “Probably Dr Evils Yacht”. I mean, they’re not wrong?
Tycoon Yuri certainly has a lot of money with a net worth of $5.9 billion and looks a little like that pinky-pointing character from Austin Powers – be honest.
Initially commissioned by billionaire Graeme Hart ($9.8 billion), the Multiverse boat was launched in 2018 by the Facebook investor and former physicist who made a fortune with investments in Twitter, Spotify, and Airbnb through his venture fund, DST Global.
“This is what humanity is being ground down and bled dry for. THIS is what the world is being destroyed here.Youre seeing the results of THOUSANDS of people being overworked, underpaid, put in debt, and struggling just to live.THAT is what produces THIS,” someone else commented.
These people aren’t entirely off track.
