SA criminals are getting more and more lawless as the days go by.
In Johannesburg, robbers are hijacking cars stuck in midday traffic jams while in Durban, they’re sommer taking people’s cars from petrol stations while everyone watches on.
An incident at a Durban petrol station was caught on CCTV cameras earlier this week, showing two men brazenly carjacking someone as he was paying for his petrol.
In the video, the motorist is standing at the petrol station window and his blue BMW is parked in a nearby parking bay when suddenly two men approach with the first man pulling out a firearm.
There are other vehicles parked nearby and a petrol attendant and another man appear to be in conversation, but still, one of the suspects assaults the driver in the face, while his accomplice forces another man to the ground.
They search the man’s pocket for his vehicle keys and whatnot before driving off, easy-peasy.
A case of carjacking is under investigation, confirmed the KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, via IOL:
“Montclair police are investigating a case of carjacking following an incident in which a 28-year-old man was reportedly robbed of his vehicle on Tuesday, February 20, on Roland Chapman Drive in Montclair. It is alleged that a man was at the garage when he was accosted by two armed men who, at gunpoint, robbed him of his belongings and drove off,” he said.
There’s clearly no fear of the consequences anymore.
