How’s this for a nice feel-good story to get your holiday started off right? Remember the Tsunami on the 26th of December, in 2004? Almost to the day, a girl swept away by the water seven years ago has re-appeared.
The girl, known only as Wati, was presumed to be dead after the massive wave swept her away from her mother and two sisters in Ujong Baroh, Aceh, on the island of Sumatra. What a surprise when she resurfaces in the nearby town of Meulaboh two days ago. She was only 8 years old when she went missing. She is 15 now.
Her only link back to her family was her grandfather. She could only remember his first name, Ibrahim. He used a mole and a small scar to identify her as his granddaughter.
Her whereabouts in the last seven years are not being disclosed to reporters.
