Up The Creek outdoor music festival is around the corner and if you haven’t already locked in your spot, a little birdie told us that the tickets have completely sold out – so next time, Creeker.
For those of you who are readying yourself to inflate your floaties, singing at the top of your lungs to some epic local musos and breathing in some lekker Breede river fresh air, we’re here to make you even more amped.
We had a chat with the festival director, Caitlin Hanley/Lotter, who has been curating the vibe for some time. We also heard from Jeremy Loops, who is in the festival lineup and going forward, he’s going to be a buy-in partner for the festival along with BreakOut events.
“We’re over the moon to see how Creekers young and old are showing record breaking support for our long-running festival – we’re excited to share the 2024 festival with our regular Creekers as well as our first time Creekies. We have a lineup that elevates only local talent and we can’t wait to share it with everyone very soon!” said Caitlin.
Up The Creek is a well-oiled machine, with the same core organiser team in place over the last 10 years. They’re a family of believers that come together for each Up The Creek festival not only with the Creeker in mind but also the local community who thrive on the employment that the festival brings to the Swellendam area.
Hear it from Loops and Lotter, themselves:
Established in 1990, the music festival has grown from strength to strength and now returns in 2024 after a three-year COVID-19 hiatus. It has always remained intimate and filled with great local music, good food, short queues, and a whole lot of gees.
This year’s festival is set to take place between 8-11 February 2024, at the much-loved original farm on the banks of the Breede River just outside of Swellendam in the Cape. By now, Creekers know they’ll be getting some of the freshest sounds on the local music scene.
The line-up for Jose Cuervo presents Up the Creek 2024 looks lekker.
With only a few days to go, the countdown to Up the Creek 2024 is closer than ever! Early Bird & Phase 1 tickets sold out last November, and only a limited number of Phase 2 tickets remained this week for the four-day Summer festival. The 2024 festival launch not only kicked off with a major ticket rush but, this time, the tickets were sold out with only a few days to go. Somewhere around a cool 3,000 tickets were sold this year.
If you’re heading out to this epic outdoor fest, don’t forget to become accustomed to the 10 Creeker Commandments that every Creeker follows, new and old alike:
Jeremy Loops’ advice is to “lock in and have a good time”, while Caitlin offers some practical wisdom as an old Creeker; a classic Up The Creek hangover cure cocktail called the Rubber Duck. It’s essentially “a mimosa on steroids” with orange juice, two shots of vodka and two shots of Old Brown sherry – so you get quacked for the day while also getting your vitamin C.
Hell yes, a Rubber Duck on your rubber duck. Up The Creek is bound to be a blast.
