Legendary Scottish Pop Rock band, Deacon Blue will be heading to South Africa for the first time in February 2024.
They’ll be spoiling their Saffa fans in Cape Town and Johannesburg while feeling just as thrilled to embark on their first debut tour of the country.
Thirty-five years since their debut single, Dignity, and millions of record sales since, Deacon Blue are digging out all their old 45s – the Top 10s, the favourites, the sing-a-long rarities – and touring South Africa for the first time this month. The band have always thrived onstage and is so excited to entertain local crowds with a selection of their hits.
We had a lovely chat with Ricky Ross, the lead vocalist of the throwback band, who has a heart of gold. You can tell that the 66-year-old really cares about the music, repeating the sentiment that it’s always only been about playing together and creating awesome sounds with his talented bandmates. That includes his wife and co-vocalist Lorraine McIntosh, whom he shares four children with – yes, he touches on what it’s like working and playing so closely with a spouse.
Good lad. Give it a watch:
Thursday 22 February 2024 – Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Town – with support act Watershed.
Saturday 24 February 2024 – Marks Park, Emmarentia, Johannesburg
