SA Airlink has released a statement to confirm that an Airlink Aeroplane, Flight 4Z 204, was involved in a ‘wet runway excursion upon landing’ at Pemba Airport in Mozambique.
The Embraer 135 Jet had 32 passengers and three crew on board and fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Both crew and passengers managed to exit the plane through the main front entrance.
Local authorities and their SA counterparts are attending to the situation and the runway has been closed until further notice. SA Airlink will send a backup aeroplane to the airport for the scheduled return flight, once it reopens.
More info will be released soon, but for now we’re just glad everyone is safe. A photo of the aeroplane has been circling on WhatsApp and it looks like it was a hairy landing. If you know who took the below pic, let us know so we can give credit.
