Nobody expected Princess Kate to be admitted to just any old public hospital for her abdominal surgery, but the clinic where the princess is currently recuperating is exactly what you would expect.
The London Clinic is a swanky state-of-the-art facility in London which boasts the latest technologies, as well as a private concierge, and award-winning chef who will cater to your every taste – with your doctor’s approval of course. With artisan pastries from chef Paul Rhodes and speciality toebroodjies from the Soho Sandwich Company, the meals are better than anything at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital.
The London Clinic is thought to be the largest private hospital in England and every room is air-conditioned and comes with a luxury en-suite packed with fluffy towels. Its website boasts: “Exceptional patient care is a way of life for us.”
Indeed the list of past patients includes the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip, the late Queen’s younger sister Princess Margaret and former US president John F Kennedy. Actress Elizabeth Taylor was also treated at the clinic after falling on a film set in the 1960s.
“At each meal Kate will be able to pick from soups, salads, small plates and main meals – with a selection of side dishes, light bites and desserts too. The bathroom is stocked with Molton Brown toiletries, the blinds and room temperature controlled by a remote and the ceiling is full of stars which can be switched on in a heartbeat.”
Buckingham Palace said that Kate is being treated at the hospital after undergoing successful abdominal surgery. She is now expected to remain in hospital for a fortnight before returning home to continue her recovery.
King Charles is also ‘going under the knife’ soon for a ‘corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate’, and will most likely visit the same clinic.
We wish the royals a speedy recovery. Everyone gets older and sometimes a bit of invasive maintenance is required. So if you have a prostate, get that thing checked before the NHI makes all the doctors flee the country and you’re wife has to do it.
