kykNET TV presenter Henriëtte Marx, as well as her husband and an associate of theirs, have been charged with fraud, theft and money laundering.
The trio – Henriëtte Marx, her husband Andries Pretorius Cornelius Marx, and Paul Louis Mcintyre – appeared in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday morning after getting caught swindling millions of rands from Andries’ former company, where he held the position as the managing director.
Henriëtte is the host of the popular lifestyle show Net Koffie on kykNET:
EWN notes that five other individuals and entities are also charged in the case. It turns out, that Henriëtte and Andries allegedly siphoned much more than just coffee from his Vereeniging-based company Yellow Star Manufacturing, which manufactures mining equipment.
The couple, alongside Paul, who was also a Yellow Star employee, and four companies they represent, is accused of more than R30 million worth of graft. The alleged offences took place over two years, between 2020 and 2022.
News24 reported that Henriëtte Marx intends to plead not guilty. The accused were granted bail on Thursday, unopposed, of R20,000 each, on condition they hand over their passports and don’t interfere with witnesses.
The case has been postponed to 31 January 2024 so the docket can be disclosed to the defence.
They might all be enjoying their last Christmas as free people.
