A baboon went big for some folk’s year-end party in Simon’s Town recently, ransacking the table and raiding their plates.

Patrons enjoying their meals with a view at what is believed to be the Black Marlin Restaurant in Millers Point, Simon’s Town, according to IOL, were suddenly graced by the unexpected presence of a mischievous baboon.

The primate was ready to party, boldly taking its share of food and munching as it went along from person to person, table to table.

Some of the people sitting around the table started flinging water and food at it to try and chase it away, but alas, the cheeky creature was taking control and getting its festive season fill.

In my experience, the patrons were way too chilled under the circumstances, with one lady even grabbing something back from the baboon. Ja, tannie, don’t cry when the thing bites back, hey.

The escapade was caught on camera and quickly became a sensation on social media platforms like X and TikTok – where naturally, racist rhetoric reared its nasty face.
