Hell hath no fury like a Durban woman beating the hell out of a taxi driver. This seems to be the case after a video surfaced of a young woman taking out her anger on a taxi driver after the guy crashed into her and her mom at ‘great speed’.
The flying fists of frustration belong to Thuso Khumalo, who is a project manager for an interior design company in Durban. Khumalo claims the taxi was driving recklessly, saying “He came out of nowhere, he was driving so fast that he didn’t even have time to react. I tried to accelerate out of the way because the traffic lights were down and he hit me on the side where my mother was seated.”
Office workers in the surrounding buildings can be heard encouraging the lady as she kicked and slapped the driver all over the intersection.
Khumalo said her car ended up on the pavement and the thought of how her mother could have been badly injured or killed so needlessly enraged her and she reacted.
Started my day with beating up a taxi driver.

“Taxi drivers do frustrate us every day, but we live with it and we kind of understand, but this was so extreme for me because his taxi was empty, it was just after 9AM, where was he rushing to so much that he almost killed us.”

Khumalo said she was fine, but was on anti-anxiety medication to deal with the incident, while her mother was a little bruised up, but she was monitoring her situation.
As much ‘fun’ as it might be seeing a taxi driver on the receiving end of road rage, Khumalo acknowledges that she should not have hit him.
“I probably shouldn’t have hit him at all, but there was nothing that warranted him driving at that speed in an area where the traffic lights were not working, he just came out of nowhere.”
Following the tweet, Khumalo said a minibus taxi rank marshall tried to threaten her. “I told them to f*** off because if it was their mother in the car they would have shot them. That guy nearly killed us.”
“I think we’re all tired of taxis bullying us.”
Khumalo says that after the incident, the office workers who witnessed the incident sent down a Coke and a chocolate to help with the shock. The taxi driver probably needed a cool drink as well after getting p**s klapped all over the Umhlanga intersection.
As frustrating as taxis can be, it’s probably not the best, or most legal route to follow when in a collision with one of these deathtraps, but judging by the response Khumalo has received, motorists enjoyed a bit of vicarious justice. This incident could have gone very badly for the lady, so if you find yourself in a prang with a taxi, let the cops deal with it.
