Bon Jovi has just released a Christmas song, thereby joining fellow hibernators Michael Bublé and Mariah Carey in becoming lame.
The American rock band released their new song Christmas isn’t Christmas this week, which shares the sentiment that the “holidays are not the same if a loved one isn’t there”.
“Christmas Isn’t Christmas is a song that I wrote about family”, says Jon Bon, “The sentiment that Christmas really isn’t Christmas without YOU which can bring up a lot of memories for people. I also liked to turn it around and know that because of you Christmas IS Christmas.”
Wise words that could have been expressed just as well in a Bed of Roses-like ballad, not a Christmas song.
It was perhaps inevitable that a Christmas tune would be in Bon Jovi’s future after the release of Thank You For Loving Me in 2000. It had taken them 17 years to go from You Give Love A Bad Name, to thanking you with puppy eyes, but that particular song saw the lyrics written on the Christmas club wall, and Bublé beckoned.
So, to everyone who held their 90’s love a bit tighter because of Bon Jovi, here is the new, and likely not last, Bon Jovi Christmas song:
