Gloomy Bruce Wayne is gloomy.

One film garnering a lot of heat prior to its 2012 release is Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Batman three-quel, The Dark Knight Rises, which follows on from his massively successful Bat-reboots, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Anne Hathaway plays Selina Kyle, who may or may not be Catwoman in this version of events.

The film picks up the story eight years after Dark Knight, as Gotham recovers from the Joker’s killing spree and the death of District Attorney, Harvey Dent. Not one to let silly things like associative guilt go, Batman continues to fight crime in the city, but, having taken responsibility for Dent’s crimes, he is hounded as a fugitive by the Gotham PD. Things are shaken up by the arrival of two new threats, Selina Kyle and Bane.

Bat fans will know that the arrival of Bane portends something quite gloomy for our favourite caped rodent, and Nolan has confirmed that this third installment will be the last in his trilogy of Batman films. Ooo-er! Look for the film to swoop into cinemas next July.
