Following a hugely successful inaugural race last year, the RSAWEB Cape Town Triathlon is back for another go on 29 October.
Healthy peeps will have the unique opportunity to swim, bike and run through the heart of the mother city on new and improved routes, featuring both sprint and standard distances.
And while you take a swim in a protected section of the Atlantic Ocean, where dolphins play almost daily, your family can chill in a huge entertainment venue with restaurants, craft markets, theatres, and an aquarium.
For triathlon enthusiasts, it doesn’t get better than this.
Of course being Cape Town, wetsuits are mandatory in our Atlantic waters, and the organisers recommend full-length, swim-specific wetsuits. This year will also allow mountain bikes as part of the cycling section to make the experience a bit safer for beginners.
E-bikes are obviously not permitted in triathlon events, and to be fair, neither are jetski’s or rollerblades. So that probably counts me out.
Lucky for okes like me, the triathlon features sprint distances as well as the standard triathlon. A 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run might just be manageable enough to start your ‘tri-sport’ journey.

The routes are also carefully managed and will give you the chance to run and cycle uninterrupted by the usual Cape Town traffic. For more information on the routes, you can follow the RSAWEB Cape Town Triathlon Facebook page or go to BikeRunTri.com. Or you can enter here.
This is going to be an amazing experience, and naturally, with our partners at RSAWEB involved, it’s going to be smooth swimming, cycling, and running all the way.
If an active lifestyle is your thing, this is for you.
