It’s always fun to see a Hollywood star reduced to a puddle of giddiness by their favourite star. In the time it takes to say, “alright, alright, alright,” actor Matthew McConaughey went from cool and composed to super-fanboy in a recent interview.
McConaughey received an unexpected surprise when WWE legend and Hall of Fame wrestler, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan crashed a recent public appearance.
The actor and lifelong wrestling fan was promoting his new children’s book Just Because, during an interview on The Bump with famed WWE broadcaster Kayla Braxton.
During the conversation, McConaughey revealed his deep-rooted passion for professional wrestling and even disclosed that he had a wrestling ring set up at home so he could engage in some moves with his sons.
Sharing his wrestling memories, McConaughey got misty-eyed and gushed how, “Hacksaw Jim Duggan was my early favorite, coming out with the 2×4.” At this point, Braxton displayed Duggan’s iconic weapon, the 2×4 plank, and offered to send it to McConaughey’s house.
Braxton then revealed that “Hacksaw” himself would be joining the interview and McConaughey could barely contain his joy.
During the interview, Duggan reminisced about his early wrestling days at the Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport, Alabama, and hilarity ensued as McConaughey shared he was kicked out of the same venue for spitting on Duggan’s opponent, Skandor Akbar.
Even someone as famous as McConaughey has their crazy fan moments, and the entire wholesome interaction is worth the watch:
As the interview concluded, McConaughey shared an inspiring moment with Braxton, explaining how he felt young again meeting his childhood hero.
“Let’s do some living while we’re here. However young we were – I’m 53, I just went back there talking to Hacksaw, I was 15 years old again!”
Its good advice for living in the moment, so take heed and let McConaughey’s giddy teen joy get you through the rest of the week.
