Fenty x PUMA, the collaboration between global superstar Rihanna and the iconic urban sportswear brand, is making a triumphant return after a hiatus since 2017.
This time ’round, PUMA has unleashed an exciting new sneaker design known as the Avanti, in cahoots with RiRi’s haute couture brand Fenty.
“It’s a bit of a family reunion,” Rihanna joyfully shared with Vogue.
“Coming back to PUMA as a mom, in a new space, allowed for new perspectives and ideas.”
Fenty x PUMA originally burst onto the scene in 2015 with a focus on sneakers, including the iconic Creeper style that had the world drooling over its comfortable yet stylish chunky build.
Flash forward to 2023 and the new Avanti sneaker, retailing at $160 (just over R3000), is a hybrid marvel, blending elements of PUMA’s King football boot with their Easy Rider running shoe. So whether you’re meeting up with the gang for a snazzy brunch or kicking around a footie with the kids, Fenty x PUMA has you covered.

“Digging into Puma’s archives is always incredible,” Rihanna shared amidst the big launch.
“There is so much history and legacy here, and I wanted to honor that by paying tribute to the Avanti. [The King is] the shoe [Brazilian football player] Pelé played in and made very famous, and I know people are looking forward to their return.”
To infuse the Avanti with her signature style, Rihanna incorporated thoughtful fashion details to elevate the overall silhouette of the classic shoe. It boasts a vintage leather upper, available in classic black and white or a statement silver, and the foldable tongue and gum sole add extra touches of flair.
As a mother of two, Rihanna ensured that the Avanti would be available in children’s sizes, retailing at $95 (R1800) for preschool sizes and $80 (R1500) for infant sizes.
“This time around, we expanded our creations to kids, ’cause I selfishly want my boys in everything their dad and I wear or design.”
RiRi can definitely stake claim to being the official ‘cool mom’.
The Avanti dropped worldwide on PUMA’s website on 15 September and a second release is scheduled for later this year.
It’s clear that this week’s Fenty x PUMA comeback marks the beginning of a new era of fashion prowess, and we can’t wait to see what the legendary collab serves up next.
