South Africa’s Mzansi Youth Choir continues to prove that they are the pride and joy of local talent.

The choir group, hailing from Soweto, has made its mark on the international stage by securing a spot in the final episode of season 18 of America’s Got Talent. South Africans across the country are beaming as the homegrown musical group shows off their Saffa style to international audiences.

It’s no easy feat to make it this far on the America’s Got Talent stage; nine other acts were eliminated from the competition, but Mzansi Youth Choir held their own.

Dressed elegantly in white and gold, the choir captivated audiences with their rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Everywhere’ (what a fab song choice!) at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, earning their place in the final episode scheduled for September 26.

From a staggering 75000 initial entries worldwide, the Mzansi Youth Choir has emerged as one of the top 11 acts – halala! Their journey to the recording of this pivotal episode was not without its challenges, including flight cancellations and other logistical hurdles. But the amazing group of young singers made it!

Another highlight of this season of America’s Got Talent has got to be when the Mzansi Youth Choir received the first-ever audience Golden Buzzer for a group performance. No one does it like South Africans!

Simon Cowell, famous for being a bit of a grouch, had nothing but misty eyes and kind words for the singing group. I guess even icy Mr Cowell couldn’t escape the gees of the moment, as he gushed about the performance.

“I think this act is spectacular. Your energy and just the way you perform it just draws you in. We always say that this stage can make you or break you. Tonight, it made you.”

The Mzansi Youth Choir’s exceptional journey on America’s Got Talent has not only showcased their musical prowess but also celebrated South African performers on a global platform.
