If you’ve never visited the Terra del Capo Tasting Room at the Anthonij Rupert Estate in Franschhoek, you are in for a treat this weekend.
Their Seven Days of Shiraz and Venison experience is still available until Sunday, 27 August and features a 4-course menu paired with various Shiraz from their award-winning estate.
The selection includes the Anthonij Rupert Syrah, the Cape of Good Hope Riebeeksrivier Syrah, and Protea Shiraz.
Known for bespoke wine tastings in a magnificent setting, Terra del Capo Tasting Room also boasts a beautifully landscaped garden under the shade of olive trees. The garden is divided into separate dining areas, each accommodating groups of up to eight guests, so this makes it the perfect place to celebrate with friends while soaking up the picturesque views of the Franschhoek Valley.
The Terra del Capo Tasting room features a mezzanine tasting lounge where you can have a bird’s eye view of the activity in the bottling line through a glass wall, as well as panoramic views of the estate and mountains. The food is also excellent and all produce is sourced fresh from local organic suppliers. If slow braised venison, and Springbok loin with soft parmesan polenta sounds like a good Saturday or Sunday afternoon, you will have to be quick to make a reservation.
Luckily there is still some space left, so just send an email to tasting@rupertwines.com to make your reservation. The cost is R495 per person, which includes gratuity and wine pairing. That’s not bad considering the wine, food, and spectacular views.

Terra del Capo is a brand born of the late Anthonij Rupert’s passion for Italian wines. The brand was introduced for the first time in 1998 and consisted of Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and a Nebbiolo/Sangiovese blend.
It has since been refined to include a single-varietal Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, co-fermented Merlot/Sangiovese blend Arne, and an extra virgin olive oil produced at the L’Ormarins estate.
As we said before, a visit to the Anthonij Rupert Estate in Franschhoek should be on every wine lover’s bucket of ice list.
