As production for the forthcoming film adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s Girl With The Dragon Tattoo got underway in 2010, it was rumoured that heavyweight Hollywood director, David Fincher (Seven, Zodiac, Fight Club, Social Network) had approached Yo-Landi Vi$$er to play the protagonist role of Lisbeth.
Vi$$er, who was at the time enjoying world wide acclaim for her work as part of South African zef rap phenomenon, Die Antwoord, confirmed that she had been approached by Fincher* (who also has massive blockbusters like Fight Club, Seven, and The Social Network to his name) to play the role of Lisbeth, but had turned the role down because Die Antwoord was, “her life”.
However, in an EXCLUSIVE VIDEO INTERVIEW with 2oceansVibe at the world premier of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo in London this last weekend, Fincher denied having ever asked Vi$$er to play the role of Lisbeth. Wincing, and with what some might construe to be an expression of embarassment, Fincher claims that he has never even met with or spoken to Vi$$er.

In the interview, Fincher acknowledges that he had seen a photo of Yo-Landi, and thought she was “kind of fantastic”, but stressed that he never met with her, or asked her to play the role of Lisbeth Salander, as Vi$$er confirmed to reporters in 2010.
