Streaming turned to screaming during a recent performance by singer Bebe Rexha when a fan threw his phone at the petite songstress and hit her in the eye.
Throwing things at your favourite artist is a tradition among fans as they express their need to ‘connect’ with their idols, but back in the day, it was bras and panties (and the occasional boxers at a Celine Dion concert).
Nicolas Malvagna, however, must have been going commando that night as he chucked his phone. He also doesn’t understand how to download a song. The music is supposed to come to your phone, not vice versa.
Malvagna, 27, was arrested and charged with assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, and harassment after hitting the singer above the left eye, requiring Rexha to get stitches.
“I was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because it would be funny.”
Hilarious, and now you have to buy a new iPhone.
Rexha, 33, was on stage wrapping up her concert at the Rooftop at Pier 17 when he allegedly hurled the phone at her. Following the shot to the face, the singer staggered around before falling down as security rushed onstage.
Concertgoers were naturally enraged by the senseless act and called for the guilty phone-tosser to be held accountable. According to one fan, Rexha already struggles a lot in the industry ‘because of their bias against her age and weight’ – something she mentioned during her show. Sadly, the singer can now add techno-bias to her repertoire of victim-stuff.
“Wow, this is so vile, nasty, and disturbing. Bebe Rexha doesn’t deserve this at all. I hope she is ok, and I hope the person who threw the phone gets charged with assault.”
Rexha seems to be a bit more resilient than her fans and posted a pic of her injury to Instagram, with the words “I’m good.”

It was a rather stupid thing to do, so we hope that Malvagna gets what is coming to him. It’s hard enough being onstage without having to duck projectiles. Just ask any crappy punk band (most are).
Malvanga has since been freed without bail and ordered to stay away from Rexha. He also has to get a new phone, which serves him right.
Despite the fracas, fans agreed that the concert was a hit.
