Breaking up is tough, but an Argentinian flight attendant took things a bit far when she called in a bomb threat to an airline in order to stop her ex from taking a trip with his new girlfriend.
Daniela Carbone, 47, allegedly threatened to blow up an entire aeroplane to stop her ex-boyfriend’s vacation to Miami.
240 passengers and crew were rushed off the Aerolíneas Argentinas aeroplane after a sinister threat was directed at the airline via voicemail. Claiming that there were three separate bombs on the flight, the crazy ex-girlfriend instructed the “little Captian to check the plane, as she was going to blow it into a thousand pieces.”
Bomb squads and emergency response teams hunted for the explosives, causing the airline to lose an estimated $1 million (R18 million).
Investigators eventually traced the call back to Carbone, who was detained for two weeks at the airport prison, all the while refusing to comment or cooperate with authorities. Eventually, the story began to reveal itself.
Carbone was reportedly in a five-year relationship with a male flight attendant, and the pair often worked together on Aerolínas Argentinas. The pair broke up just a couple of months ago and he began a new relationship, which is when he decided to take his new girlfriend to Miami and Carbone lost the plot.
What makes the entire episode even more crazy was that Carbone used her daughter’s cellphone to make the threats, and in the process dragged her unknowing kid into the madness.
Her daughter was understandably pissed, and after Carbone texted her daughter about the arrest, she simply responded: “The selfish one is you. That you can screw up my life over this bullshit.”
Carbone had been a flight attendant at the airline for 24 years but has now been fired for obvious reasons.
The vexed ex-lover now faces up to six years in prison for her jealousy.
