Four women from different KwaZulu-Natal towns have all been scammed by a swindler posing as a pilot.
The women were collectively scammed out of thousands of Rands by a man claiming to be a pilot called Ravi Kumar who professed his love for them and made them send him money so that his lavish gifts could pass through customs.
The woman sent in their complaints to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), noting that Ravi introduced himself as a single Airline Pilot residing in Los Angeles, California in the US.
The women were conned out of a combined R97 000 after Ravi convinced them that he had sent them thousands of dollars and other excessive gifts that were conveniently stuck in customs. He asked the woman to send him money to get the gifts cleared and then just disappeared with their money. Classic.
The receipts live on:

SA People reports that people watching via Twitter said that the women deserve to hang their heads in shame for being so silly:
@Xole_25 wrote: “It served them right There’s an account here on Twitter that does the same thing they tried it with me but sana I don’t play with money I don’t have.”
@QondileKM commented: “Domkops”
While @uMthembukazi said: “The women must be arrested for embarrassing themselves like that.”
Indeed, romance scams and online fraud is rife, so one should always do a deep dive before sending anyone money on the internet.
