It seems the Wiccans are getting a bit wacky after CCTV footage emerged of two ‘scantily clad witches’ chowing down on a deer carcass in the woods. Yes, really.

The footage was discovered by a Canadian nurse checking her ‘trail cam’, which she set up to monitor animal movement around a deer carcass she found on her property. The footage shows the “two witches holding a carcass-eating ritual” and has rightly freaked out Corinea Stanhope, 36, of Powell River.

Stanhope noted to the outlet that the apparent carcass-eaters emerged about 10 minutes after sunset, looking “dishevelled” and like they were wearing wigs. The nurse said the whole scene ‘freaked her out’ as the carcass was left just a few minutes walk from her house.

“I don’t know what the heck was up with that.”

Indeed. Stanhope and her grandfather put the camera up in the hopes of seeing which predators would be attracted to the dead animal. They managed to see a bobcat, which was “pretty cool”, but a few minutes after sunset the two ‘witches’ appeared.

“I came the next day, and grandpa said he’d got naked people on the camera, and I said, ‘No, you didn’t. Bulls—.’ So, he showed me,”

Both women were almost naked and the footage shows one raising a hoof to her mouth, as if about to bite into it. Stanhope is not sure if she was smelling the hoof or eating it, but the thought of messing around with a dead animal gives her the heebie-jeebies.

She acknowledges that they may just have been ‘paying their respects’, but she wonders why they were naked. Of course, those who dabble in the dark arts would know that being naked is a prerequisite when communing with mother earth. Or at least it should be.

Stanhope says that her horses had been acting strange around the area where the deer lay, and now believes that they may have been spooked by the witching going on. “I thought they imagined stuff at first, so I didn’t think anything of it. Maybe I believe them now.”

The nurse hopes that it was just a prank by some kids, or even someone on ‘really good drugs’. Equally freaked-out commentators were however not so optimistic in their opinions of the bizarre footage, with one declaring “That’s basically a walking demon from hell. If you hear screaming stay inside and get a gun you leave it alone.”

Others believe it was ‘skinwalkers’, or “wendigos” – malevolent supernatural entities associated with Native American folklore. As yet there has not been any comment from Hogwarts about this bizarre incident, so, for now, we have to take this at face value.

Just another day in rural America as naked women walk around at night, feasting on Bambi’s mom while channelling their inner Blair Witch.
