Marie Antoinette would have gone absolutely gaga over shoes in the 21st century. These days the kicks you wear say as much about you as your hairstyle.

Valued at an estimated $381.9 billion (R7 Trillion), the shoe market is bigger than a lot of countries’ GDP, but there is no shoe on the planet quite as over the top as the Moon Star Shoes.

Coming in at a very reasonable price tag of $19 Million (R348 Million), these puppies are literally out of this world. And there is nothing hush about them.

Crafted with solid gold heels that depict the Burj Khalifa, 30 carats of diamonds, and material from a meteorite that landed in Argentina in 1975, they were debuted at the 2019 Dubai Fashion Week by Italian designer Antonio Vietri.

Vietri is known for crafting the world’s first 24k gold shoes in 2017, which were delivered via helicopter to buyers. The Moon Star Shoes however are a tribute to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which is the tallest building in the world and resembles the heel.

We’re not so sure these shoes would do so well in our South African environment. Our roads are waaay too uneven and it flies right in the face of our unofficial stash it, don’t flash it motto. They probably don’t sokkie so lekker either.
