By now we are sure everyone has heard about the drone incident over the Black Sea. The encounter is the most recent event in a global tit-for-tat that has been going on between the Ukrainian-supporting countries and Russia. The incident has been described as “an unsafe and unprofessional intercept” by U.S. European Command. Fortunately, the drone was unmanned, but the actions on both sides seemed to be reaching another level of agitation.
Russia has denied US accusations that its jets acted recklessly in the incident on Tuesday. US officials told Russia’s ambassador to the United States that Moscow has to be more careful when flying in international airspace.
The unmanned Reaper surveillance drone was in international airspace when a Russian Su-27 fighter jet appeared to ‘dump’ fuel over the craft before striking its propellor – you can clearly see the damaged blade in the footage. The drone was damaged in the manoeuvre and crashed into the sea below. Nobody was injured. The US has now released footage of the event, and to be honest, it looks like something out of Top Gun. Have a look:
With all of our homegrown problems, it’s easy to forget that a war has been raging in Eastern Europe for more than a year now, and lately, it seems as if the countries involved are daring each other to ‘do something’.

Engagements between Russian and US-backed air forces have been increasing lately and we hope that sanity prevails before all these displays of power cause more deaths. There has been enough blood spilt already.
Nobody ever ‘wins’ a war, yet they keep trying.
