Dr Jaco Putter, a beloved Pretoria doctor was allegedly murdered in his Nieuw Muckleneuk home recently.
The South African described the murder as ‘brutal’, saying that the sudden loss of life “sent shock waves through the city” as many who knew Dr Putter remembered him as one of the gentlest people.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk confirmed the death of Dr Putter, per Maroela Media, saying that a family member discovered his body.
It is reported that the murdered doctor was found lying on his back in the shower, appearing to have been strangled.
His cellphone, tablet, jewellery, watches, and an Alfa Romeo car were also reported missing, Maroela Media noted.
The police are apparently investigating a case of murder.
Meanwhile, the 60-year-old doctor’s nephew Dr Armand Koekemoer posted the news on his Facebook page:
“It is with great sadness that I inform you that my uncle passed away last night. The rumours that he was murdered are true, but we do not have more information available at this stage,” Koekemoer said.
Nella Janke Veldtman said Dr Putter was her doctor from 2005 to 2007 when they moved from Pretoria to Jeffreys Bay:
“He was probably the gentlest doctor and person who had the most sympathy/empathy for his patients,” she said.
Another patient, Annelize Erasmus, also mourns the slain doctor: “What a huge shock. I was his patient for over 30 years. He was an excellent doctor”.
There is no news about the alleged suspects or their exact motives.
