Los Angeles doctors who have been treating actor Tom Sizemore since he suffered a brain aneurysm on February 18th, have advised his family to make an end-of-life decision, as there was no further hope of him awakening or recovering from the aneurysm.
Sizemore has been in critical condition since he collapsed at his home earlier this month, and with this news, the doctors have confirmed the family’s worst fears.
“Today, doctors informed his family that there is no further hope and have recommended [an] end of life decision. The family is now deciding end of life matters and a further statement will be issued on Wednesday.”
Sizemore, 61, has been a prolific actor and starred alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest stars in movies such as Natural Born Killer, Saving Private Ryan and Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. Sizemore’s film roles as the ‘bad guy’ seemed to have reflected his personal life as he was convicted of domestic violence against his girlfriend in 2003.
In 2017, Sizemore pled no contest to two charges of domestic violence after being arrested again for assaulting his girlfriend. The actor also had his share of troubles with drugs and has been arrested twice for possession, in 20o7 and again in 2019.
Despite all his personal troubles, Sizemore has been a regular presence in some of the most memorable movies of the last few decades, and for that alone, he deserves our gratitude.

The actor’s family will make a final decision on Wednesday.
“We are asking for privacy for his family during this difficult time and they wish to thank everyone for the hundreds of messages of support, and prayers that have been received. This has been a difficult time for them.”
End-of-Life decisions are common in patients where further treatments are considered to be futile or non-beneficial. Going forward, the focus is then placed on ensuring the patient is comfortable and supported. In the US, palliative care often involves stopping treatment even if it means that the patient will die if an informed decision is made by a family member or representative.
