Madonna has been the Queen of pop for almost a thousand years now.
Even when Britney Spears bubble-gummed onto the scene and threatened her virginity, Madonna still crab-walked her way across the world’s biggest stages. And as Britney shaved her way through a mental health crisis, Madonna somehow remained glorious and youthful. But even the Sphinx had some work done after a few centuries.
Her recent appearance at the 2023 Grammy Award Show has however drawn a confused and concerned reaction from social media, with some unable to believe that it was her.

Perhaps some of the reaction has been unkind. Madonna has after all been flying the rebel flag for a lot longer than Billie Idol could yell, and the music industry has always insisted on their female stars being more than just a voice. Sexy sells and getting old is a dealbreaker.
It’s all very unfair and more than a little cruel really. But according to an Express article, social media has zero chill, and even her speech got a tweet-lashing.
Madonna is what happens when you don’t prepare a speech and repeat it 3-5 times before you show up to give it. #GRAMMYs

This is the worst narcissistic Madonna #GRAMMYs speech since she gave Aretha Franklin that non-tribute tribute.

Despite all the hate, Madonna was there to support all the ‘rebels’ in the audience, saying:
“I’m here to give thanks to all the rebels out there, forging a new path and taking the heat for all of it. You guys need to know all you troublemakers out there you need to know that your fearlessness does not go unnoticed.”
Unnoticed it definitely was not. Even at the age of sixty, Madonna can still give Britney a run for her money, even when the latter can be dragged onto the stage. But nobody Benjamin Buttons themselves out of old age, and Taylor Swift drank the last of the immortality juice.
For the rest of us, there is now just weird-looking plastic surgery and yoga.
