According to an article in Express, a friend of Michael Schumacher secretly took pictures of the bed-stricken F1 legend, and then tried to sell it to media outlets for £1 million.
Thankfully the media showed a rare reluctance to ‘if it bleeds, it leads’, and to date, the pictures have never surfaced. Schumacher was considered one of the best Formula One drivers of all time until his ski accident in 2013. Doctors placed him in a medically induced coma from which he only awoke in 2014.
He was eventually moved to his Swiss home where he has been receiving private care as he recuperates.
Updates on his health have been sporadic, and for the last decade, there has been very little new news about his condition. With only close friends and family allowed to visit him, news outlets have been left wondering how his recovery has progressed. His wife, Corinna, was forced to take on responsibility for his legacy and still shares updates on his condition from time to time.
“Michael is here. Different, but he’s here and that gives us strength, I find. We try to carry on a family as Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives.”
Schumacher turned 54 years old in January.
