Land of the free, home of the brave, and now also machine gun-toting toddlers.

To the rest of the world, this may seem like the last thing you would want your child to find under the Christmas tree, but in the Wild West of America, the JR-15 is being promoted as a ‘child-sized AR-15 to instil ‘American family values’.

“Operates just like Mom and Dad’s gun.” Jesus wept.

The company that manufactures the weapon, Wee1 Tactical, has come under fire (pun intended) for promoting the deadly child’s toy only weeks after a six-year-old child shot his teacher.

According to their website, the JR-15 is the perfect introduction to weapons. Ironically the gun show is held in Las Vegas, the scene of one of the US’s deadliest mass shootings.

According to New Republic, Wee1 Tactical has previously promoted the weapon with ‘fun’ branding such as stylised skulls and crossbones with a yellow Mohawk for the boys, and pink ribbons and a pink pacifier for the girls.

But just in case anyone is concerned about the dangers of having a child wield a machine gun, the site has a page dedicated to explaining their “tamper-resistant safety switch” that “requires strength and dexterity to release”:

AR-15s or similar rifles were the primary weapons used in some of the deadliest mass shootings in recent American history: the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, the 2017 Sutherland Springs church shooting, the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting.

According to some US politicians, more guns have always been the answer, such as the below tweet from Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene:

The kids at Uvalde needed JR-15s to defend themselves from the evil maniac that didn’t care about laws.

At least they could have defended themselves since no one else did, while their parents were held back by police.

It is estimated that the US has 125 weapons for every 100 citizens, so we have to ask: how many guns are enough to end gun violence?
