Jessica Simpson has been a favourite of ours since Duke’s of Hazard blew up our screens, and our minds.
Granted, the movie wasn’t a cinematic masterpiece, but Daisy Duke was one hell of a character, despite the acting. Then again, Jessica has always been a ‘Britney Light’, and now it seems the singer’s behaviour has her fans talking with the same confused tone they use to describe Britney’s on/off spiral into eccentricity.
Jessica’s fans raised concerns after a dodgy Pottery Barn advert of her surfaced. In the ad, she shows viewers around her daughter’s room, and with some limply swinging of arms, and very babbelas-looking eyes, she does indeed look and sound as if she took one too many Xanax that day. Have a look at the advert below and judge for yourself.
Both Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson were part of a young generation of superstars who entered our lives the same time as the internet. They lived lives of extreme scrutiny before retreating into relative quiet lives, so perhaps it is unfair of us to look at them now with the same eyes as we did then.
Both have had their share of troubles over the last decade and to expect Jessica to hop around in cut-off jeans and speak with the same child’s voice is perhaps more of a reflection on us than her. People change as life carries them down the river of time. Even Daisy Duke grew up.
