The Guardian’s Wendy Ide pulled no punches as she vivisects the latest action offering from used-to-be-so-hot Antonio Banderas.
The action star is joined in this “cliched and limping” film by a Mia Wallace-looking Kate Bosworth as the movie lurches between brutal fight scenes and “killers have feelings too” moments.
“It’s thuddingly predictable stuff that limps through a plot involving nefarious sex traffickers, treachery and a liberal smearing of Miami sleaze,” The Guardian‘s two-star review for The Enforcer reads.
Following the disaster that was The I-Island, Bosworth was perhaps hoping that starring alongside the ageing Banderas could help her boost her fledging career, but if the critics are to be believed, she may have to use 2023 to look into podcasting, or a lifestyle products range.
We are however willing to give The Desperado star a bit more slack simply because of Puss in Boots, but if this is what we can come to expect from him in the new year, we predict a recurring role on NCIS.
