The battle between Android users and iPhone users will rage on until the world is reduced to an inhabitable hellscape.
At least we’ll then also be done with the ‘pineapple on pizza’ debate. I hate it, but who cares, you go buck wild with your toppings.
Most people will have dug their heels in when it comes to which smartphone they choose, pledging never to cross over to “the dark side”.
That was the stance of CNET’s Abrar Al-Heeti until she finally caved after 10 years of Team Android and ordered an iPhone 14 Pro. From that point on, she hasn’t looked back:
…after conversations with friends and family about what I could get from the iPhone that I could never get with my Android, I started to reconsider my stance… there was one big thing my Android could never offer: a seamless way to communicate with all my friends on the iPhone…
I realized I was missing out on other, more significant benefits of owning an iPhone.
We don’t use iMessage as much as they do in the US, instead opting for WhatsApp.
However, there are other issues to contend with:
I was OK with just using WhatsApp, until I began to envy my friends who were instantaneously AirDropping pictures and videos after our hangouts. WhatsApp also diminishes the quality of videos, and Google Drive takes a lot longer to upload videos to.
It also was frustrating that apps like TikTok diminished my camera quality on Android. Comparing TikTok videos taken on an iPhone — even an older version like the iPhone X — with those taken on my Galaxy S10 Plus is like night and day. On my Galaxy, TikTok distorted the colors and blurred everything in the most unflattering and unrealistic way. On the iPhone, videos are crisp and clear and appear just as they should.
TikTok isn’t going to influence my decision in the slightest but it will for millions of people who can’t bear the shame of distorted and blurry videos of the latest dance craze, or whatever the youth get up to these days.
You can buy an iPhone 11 from Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer, for as little as R10 799. Forking out for the latest model, like an iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro, will start from R21 499
…no matter what you do, people will have unsolicited opinions about what device you’re using. My Galaxy worked well for me for many years. Now I was ready for something new. And so far, I have no regrets.
Look at you, sticking to your convictions.
Another check in the plus column for making the switch is that it’s now easier than ever to do so, thanks to Apple’s Move to iOS app.
All you’ll need is a Wi-Fi network and access to both phones and access to the Google Play Store on your Android device. From there, each step is really simply laid out by Apple Support.
Go on, join the “dark side” – Digicape will be waiting to assist with all your Apple-related queries once you’ve decided to take the plunge.
