It’s been a while since I’ve watched a Taylor Swift music video.
She’s doing just fine without my views, mind you – ‘Blank Space’ zoomed past three billion views in July of this year, joining ‘Shake It Off’ as the second music video from the album 1989 to cross that landmark on YouTube.
Swift’s latest album, Midnights, released on October 21, got off to a rollicking start and smashed two Spotify records (most streamed album in a single day and most streamed artist in a single day) over the course of 24 hours.
The release wasn’t without controversy and Swift has now been forced to edit the music video for ‘Anti-Hero’ after some people complained it was fatphobic.
Over to Mashable:
[The video] received negative attention for a scene in which she stands on a set of bathroom scales while another version of her looks on. Rather than showing a number, the scales simply read “FAT” — an image that some viewers considered fatphobic due to it associating fatness with undesirability.
Swift wrote and directed the video so there’s no sidestepping this one.
Behold, the now-deleted scene:
This is the correct version @AppleMusic! Restore the video! The “fatphobic” is incorrect and this video shouldn’t suffer by losing its message about eating disorders! #TaylorSwift #AntiHero #TSmidnighTS pic.twitter.com/1PIa3pPwiE

The tweet above is referencing the fact that Swift has been open about dealing with an eating disorder, particularly in the 2020 documentary, Miss Americana.
We may as well plonk the full music video here:
Swift’s biggest fans clearly don’t agree that the video was fatphobic:
Nahuel is offended, someone else is offended that he’s offended, and somebody must be held accountable for this travesty of justice.
Welcome to 2022.
