After years of taking continued stabs at one another, the beef between South African rappers AKA (Kiernan Forbes) and Cassper Nyovest (Refiloe Phoolo) has reached a new low.
At an event this weekend, AKA performed his timeless diss track Composure to a fan-filled crowd, knowing full well that Cassper Nyovest was present at the time.
“Humiliated and looking for redemption,” reported City Press, Cassper went up to AKA outside hoping to settle their problems once and for all.
In a video first shared across Twitter, you can see Cassper getting riled up for a physical fight before security guards stepped in to settle the situation before it escalated.
That video is shown before a shot of AKA’s performance that agitated his fellow rapper:
Fans are adding their two cents about this ongoing beef:
Cassper is so desperate for a fight with Kiernan cos musically he already lost. Hip hop is about bars not gloves. Aka is about hip hop, not twerking in the ring like a promo girl

Afterwards, Cassper also took to Twitter to try and settle the score again:
All that trash talk woulda been great to promote the fight. All your antics, fuck it, you can even perform composure when you walk out into the ring. Stop running Kiernan, be that tough guy you claim are and come see me in the ring. Let’s give the people a show! You started this.

Lol. I was just chatting with lil man and asking how he is doin? Wanted us to talk on the side,I told him it was time to finish this, as man. He ain’t want no smoke. I’ll tell you one thing, that guy ain’t coming to see me in the ring anytime soon. Nothing but fear in his eyes.

The battle of the superegos stretches all the way back to 2014.
Nyovest claimed his hit song at the time, Doc Shebeleza, was bigger than AKA’s Congratulate in a since-deleted tweet:
AKA… clapped back by sharing his sentiments, as his song Congratulate was also in the top 100 charts on iTunes at the time.
However, in 2015, AKA sang a different tune in a sit-down interview with MTV. Aside from calling the origins of the beef lame, AKA went into great detail about why the two rappers could not see eye to eye. In the interview, he said Cassper Nyovest had lied about not having support in the industry, when, in fact, he had a whole team of rappers rallying behind him.
Here’s what AKA said in that interview:
“When it comes to Cassper, maybe I’ve become a bit of a victim of my own success, but, at the same time, when it’s time to go head-to-head, I don’t back down. I don’t back down from a challenge. I don’t view it as a distraction. It is what it is,” he added.
The dust settled for a brief moment after they heard megaproducer Oskido (Oscar Mdlongwa) speak about the beauty of unity and the two rappers hugged it out at the famous Johannesburg club Taboo in 2016.
Fast forward to 2020 and the two were once again speaking about getting into the ring to hash things out. AKA even asked that they both sign a contract to do so.
But nothing came of that in the end.
So on goes the ring-battle teasing, I guess. It is all fun and games and publicity.
