Trust a celeb to flex the fanciest watches on the planet.
Jay-Z, particularly, has never been one to mess around when it comes to his watch-wearing.
The rapper turned billionaire clearly has no problem acquiring the most sought-after timepieces, showing up at the screening for the new Netflix movie The Harder They Fall, which he helped produce, with quite the wrist gem. Spot it up top.
You might have a vague memory of the $2,2 million Patek he wore to Diddy’s birthday party a few years ago. Well, his latest effort has surpassed that with serious spare change left over.
Jay-Z sent shivers down the spines of watch connoisseurs with his $6,5 million Tiffany & Co. Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-018.
Only 170 limited-edition Nautilus reference 5711/1A-018 will be made and sold at certain Tiffany boutiques, reported Man of Many:
The watch world was under the assumption the most sought-after Patek (Nautilus reference 5711/1A-018) was discontinued until a week ago when the brand unveiled there would be ONE more model. Tiffany & Co. would bear the sole retailer with a super-limited run of Tiffany-blue dial Nautilus models exclusively sold through the boutique.
Highlights of the watch include the aforementioned blue dial and a Tiffany & Co. logo stamp as a final touch. We’d never seen anything like this in the watch world, and it’s safe to say the watch will go down as one of the biggest in history – and the buyers thought so too.
The 170 instant-classic baby-blue-dialled Nautiluses, signed and retailed by Tiffany & Co., debuted in 2021, but this is its first on-wrist appearance.
$6,5 million is how much it was sold for at an auction, making it the ninth most expensive watch ever sold at auction. Although, according to a source close to Jay-Z, he was not the buyer.
Either way, since he and Beyoncé are the new faces of Tiffany & Co., Jay-Z is the man who will make this Patek famous, per Robb Report.
The publication also paid homage to other musicians and the timepieces that they made famous, like Elvis and his Hamilton Ventura, Miles Davis and his Breitling Navitimer Ref. 806, John Lennon and his Patek Philippe Ref. 2499, as well as Rihanna and her Rolex King Midas, among others.
