Alain Robert celebrated his 60th birthday in a really unique way.
As a solo free climber dubbed the “French Spider-Man”, Robert is clearly not going to let his age dictate his ability to climb tall buildings.
Having scaled the likes of the Burj Khalifa (828 metres) and the Empire State Building (381 metres) before, making his way up the Tour TotalEnergies skyscraper in Paris on Saturday was no biggie.
In fact, Saturday’s trek was apparently the 12th time Robert has climbed the building.
This time, he managed to haul himself up the 187-metre monstrosity in just an hour, per HuffPost:
The climber revealed to Reuters that he promised himself several years ago that he would climb the building for the occasion because 60 symbolizes France’s retirement age.
“I want to send people the message that being 60 years is nothing. You can still do sport, be active, do fabulous things,” Robert told Reuters.
Up and at it then, Robert:

He likened climbing the 48-storey building to “a ladder”.
Robert has also crawled up the Eiffel Tower, the Sydney Opera House, Taipei 101, the Petronas Towers, and Willis Tower.
Just FYI, he uses no ropes, only “plasters” on his fingers and “a bit of tackle to reduce perspiration” during his climbs.
Quite something.
He said he made this recent climb to raise awareness of global warming and has no plans to put his passion to rest anytime soon.
Well, as long as he is in good health, he at least acknowledges.
