Larry Ellison, the co-founder of software giant Oracle, is looking to flip his oceanfront estate in North Palm Beach, Florida, for $145 million.
Consider that he purchased it in April last year for $80 million and yeah, that’s a pretty tidy profit.
Then again, Ellison is currently worth in the region of $110 billion, according to Forbes, so a $65 million gain is barely going to register.
Before we continue, please note that two months ago, Ellison broke the record for the most expensive Florida real estate purchase ever recorded when he bought an estate in Manalapan for a cool $173 million.
It really is another universe. Let’s get some details on the estate he’s flogging via Mansion Global:
Located in the Seminole Landing gated community, the North Palm Beach property sits on about 8.5 acres, including a privately-owned beach and dune, with over 520 feet of ocean frontage, according to the listing agents.
It is one of the largest oceanfront plots in Palm Beach County, and one of a handful of Florida properties where someone could land and take off in a helicopter…
The Tuscan-style house has seven bedrooms, a home theater and a wine room. The property also includes a tennis court.
It better have a tennis court. With the change I have left over from the purchase, I’m converting that into a padel court and joining the revolution.
My bad – it turns out the property may require a little more work than that:
While the existing home has “good bones,” [Adam McPherson of Douglas Elliman, one of the listing agents] said most buyers will likely want to expand the house or raze it and build a larger home from scratch.
Who hasn’t dreamt of buying a mansion for $145 million and then bashing it down to start over? McPherson says it’s very rare that an oceanfront property hits the market, and “to get one this size is unheard of”.
Ellison has a massive real estate portfolio to his name and also owns 98% of the Hawaiian island of Lanai.
This via Robb Report:
“As one of the largest oceanfront lots, the property holds a certain cache that stands above and beyond the spectacular estates in Palm Beach, which are already a benchmark for the highest caliber of properties in the world,” notes Farhad Farman of Compass, who serves as a strategic marketing adviser for the property.
Three more snaps and we call it a day:
Did we mention it’s right on the beach?
Your own private beach.
Whoop-de-do.
