New details have emerged about the 2016 fight on a private jet that likely ended Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s marriage.
Jolie submitted images to an FBI inquiry into the incident of the bruises that she was left with after allegedly being pushed around by her then-husband.
Jolie described the flight from Nice in France as tension-filled and hours-long, with Pitt drinking the whole time – something that seemed to have exacerbated his anger.
According to the FBI report, Jolie accused Pitt of pouring beer on her, as well as shouting at her and pushing and grabbing her as they fought at the back of the plane.
NBC News outlined what allegedly happened:
Jolie and her six children were on the flight, and the “Tomb Raider” actor said she “could tell that (redacted) was mad,” in apparent reference to Pitt, the report stated.
Jolie said when she asked him what was wrong, he allegedly replied: “That kid looks like a f—— Columbine kid.”
“She recalled that (redacted) went on and said things like, ‘You don’t know what you’re doing,’” in apparent reference to her parenting, the report continued.
They moved to the back of the plane so that the kids wouldn’t hear any more, at which point it is alleged that Pitt released unchecked fury:
Pitt allegedly “grabbed her by the head, shaking her, followed by grabbing her at the shoulders and shaking her” before he punched “the ceiling of the plane approximately four times,” she said.
According to the report, at least one child witnessed the confrontation and asked, “Are you ok mommy” before Pitt allegedly yelled: “No mommy’s not ok. She’s ruining this family. She’s crazy.”
Things became more heated when Jolie alleged that she had to grab Pitt in a chokehold to prevent him from launching at the person who had shouted, “It’s not her, it’s you, you prick,” in response.
All six kids were on the plane at the time.
Besides pouring beer on Jolie and her blanket, Pitt also apparently spilt wine on one of the plane chairs, causing $25 000 in damage.
The actor admitted in a 2017 GQ article that he had struggled with alcohol and had stopped drinking.
Jolie included images of the bruises that she was left with on her hand and elbow after the brawl, per Page Six:
Black-and-white photocopies of the photos are included in the report, as well as handwritten pages provided by Jolie, allegedly from her children, containing descriptions of the incident. The handwritten pages are mostly redacted.
In addition to her back and elbow, the report stated that Jolie said she also suffered “a rug burn type wound” on her left hand. A photo of the wound is included in the redacted report.
The report mentioned that they were unable to deplane upon landing with Pitt allegedly erupting, “You’re not f— going anywhere. You’re not getting off this f— plane. F— you all. I’m f—— leaving you.”
After the FBI completed the investigation in November 2016, Pitt was not arrested or charged in connection with the incident:
According to the report, after reviewing a probable cause statement related to the incident, a representative from the US Attorney’s Office “discussed the merits of this investigation with the [FBI] case agent.”
“It was agreed by all parties that criminal charges in this case would not be pursued due to several factors,” the report read.
That’s when Jolie, as an anonymous “Jane Doe”, filed the lawsuit against the FBI trying to figure out why Pitt wasn’t charged.
Sources close to Pitt have said that everyone involved in the case had the exact same report for nearly six years, accusing Jolie of using the FBI lawsuit as a media stunt.
However, Jolie has claimed that she needed the evidence to continue with the other legal cases related to the care and counselling of her children.
