According to reports, Juandré Kidson’s parents moved to Rustenburg in the early 1990s and had three sons.
Juandré was the eldest of the three and his brother Marco says he grew up “under the wings of his ever-protective brother”.
The Kidson family will never forget Saturday, May 7, 2022. Juandré, his wife, Johanette, and their one-year-old daughter were travelling home from Rustenburg to Brits when their car tyres burst due to rocks on the road.
It’s a stretch of road that has become notorious for criminal activity and the attack on Juandré and Johanette drew national attention to this.
In a recent segment, Carte Blanche took a closer look:
Running along the border between two provinces, this road is the hunting ground for would-be robbers who set up spikes, rocks, and other homemade devices to cause tyre failure and force vehicles to a halt.
In May this year, while travelling home with his wife and small baby, Juandré had no other choice but to take this route. Careful as he was, he couldn’t have predicted that they would soon become the next targets of a violent group of criminals.
Derek Watts and the team decided to investigate the tragic circumstances which led to Juandré’s death.
