After much speculation, it turns out Angelina Jolie is the anonymous “Jane Doe” who filed that 2016 lawsuit against the FBI trying to figure out why Brad Pitt wasn’t arrested after her assault allegations.
As if this couple’s already convoluted legal shenanigans needed another complicated addition.
Reports from various gossip rags have revealed that Jolie told an FBI agent several years ago that Pitt “physically and verbally assaulted” her and their children when they were aboard a private plane.
The accusations further state that Pitt was drinking and had taken Jolie to the back of the plane, grabbed her shoulders, and shook her while yelling, “You’re f—ing up this family”, per Yahoo! Entertainment:
“Later, during this same flight, another physical altercation allegedly took place, and Jolie said she sustained injuries; she gave the agent a photo of her elbow in an attempt to corroborate this,” according to Puck.
“At another point, Jolie says Pitt poured beer on her.”
But the FBI announced that Pitt would not be charged with assault, which prompted Jolie to sue the agency under the Freedom of Information Act, questioning why the investigation was closed.
She demanded that the bureau turn over documents related to the investigation into Pitt’s assault allegations, claiming that she needed the evidence to continue with the other legal cases related to the care and counselling of her children, per Variety, stating that:
“The persistent denial of that information to Ms. Doe…a victim of the assault herself — has hampered, and continues to hamper, her efforts to obtain for her children necessary ongoing care and medical attention, and has further harmed the children in the family law system.”
According to Pinkvilla, a source close to Pitt claimed that “Angelina and her team have been desperately trying to find something. This is all for show. This is all information that she already had five and half years ago.”
The source added that “there is nothing new”.
Pitt has denied all allegations of physical abuse in the years since, and no charges were ever filed.
