Scorned partners the world over have done something impulsive and vengeful after finding out that their partner had been cheating on them.
Like dipping toothbrushes in toilet water, swapping meds with laxatives, cutting holes into clothes, throwing things to the curb, and smashing something sentimental.
I don’t think these acts are reserved for the movies, either, because when that trust is broken for some people, a level of creative anger tends to come out.
A certain Jenny from Australia’s Mackay and Whitsunday region, the tourist area located adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef, went all out in her ploy to get back at her cheating husband (hopefully, ex).
She took out a daring full-page ad in the Mackay and Whitsunday Life newspaper to denounce him as a “filthy cheater”.
Via Best Life, the newspaper said that “Jenny booked the ad through our newspaper’s online portal and it was published in this Friday’s edition which is read by over 50,000 people in the Mackay and Whitsunday Life community”.
Take it all in:
The ad has gone hugely viral on social media, with people from Malaysia to well, South Africa, commenting on the way Jenny aired her dirty laundry in public like that, per 7News:
“Jenny sounds like someone I want to be friends with,” one person commented. “Never trust a Steve.”
“Not all heroines wear capes. Jenny is my new favourite person,” said another.
One Jenny even clarified: “So all my friends are aware. I am not the legend ‘Jenny’ and my ‘Steve’ has not been bad.”
As a result, Mackay and Whitsunday Life were inundated with reader questions and calls, which they addressed on Facebook:
The paper elaborated on the card payment situation separately:
“When payment for the ad was due to be processed it was noticed that the name on the credit card was different to the name on the booking so no payment was taken for the ad,” the newspaper says.
“As soon as the newspaper hit the stands, we were inundated with calls from the community so we felt it best to release the information on Facebook.”
With such general names used and no last names mentioned, it does cast doubt on whether or not this was just a really smart and elaborate PR stunt, as some people observed.
Who knows? Only the guilty Steve and infuriated Jenny, if they’re real, obviously.
