And so the Will Smith and Chris Rock slap saga continues.
Rock, appearing alongside Kevin Hart and Dave Chappelle at Madison Square Garden two weekends back, mentioned the moering, saying that “anyone who says ‘words hurt’ has never been punched in the face”.
The skit veered into the weird and meta after Hart brought a live goat that he called ‘Will Smith’ onstage, which then proceeded to poop on the comedian’s white shoes.
Rock continued with a few serious quips while in Atlanta on Friday, reported The Guardian:
“If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims,” Rock said.
“Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith … I went to work the next day, I got kids,” he joked…
The crowd may have expected more from Rock given that Will Smith released an official, and lengthy, apology video on his YouTube channel on Friday:
The actor, now banned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 10 years, does indeed appear “deeply remorseful”.
I am not sure how much more can come out of this situation, but I suppose when Rock is “ready to talk” we will hear more, jokes aside.
Although, the jokes are way more interesting. Rock knows what he’s doing.
