The 6AM to 8:30AM load shedding shift is a nightmare.
If you want coffee, you either have to get up pre-6AM, wait until after 8:30AM, or leave the house. I can’t say any of those options really appeal to me.
Load shedding is largely beyond our control and what will be will be. Running out of coffee, however, is something you shouldn’t tolerate.
Deluxe Coffeeworks has a pretty easy solution – a coffee subscription model for their famous House Blend.
Hailing from Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Brazil, the blend is specifically blended to create a versatile and well-balanced experience, using the best characteristics of each specific single origin.
The subscription allows you to choose either a 250-gram or one-kilogram bag, how often you want it delivered, and which grind.
You can choose from Whole Beans, Espresso, Home Espresso, Moka Pot / Aeropress, Plunger, and Filter.
Add to cart, have it delivered, and avoid being that person who hasn’t had their morning cuppa when the first work Zoom call rolls in.
Capetonians will be familiar with Deluxe Coffeeworks outlets dotted around the city, with two in Gardens, one in the Bo-Kaap, and one on Church Street in the CBD.
There’s also an outlet in Stellenbosch and another in Paarden Eiland.
From humble beginnings, the brand has become instantly recognisable and even extended operations to a number of Deluxe Coffeeworks branches in Namibia.
The company was started way back in 2009 by Carl Wessel and Judd Nicolay, who had worked in coffee shops for years in his native New Zealand. Judd recognised the need for and lack of good coffee in Cape Town and Carl was after a change of pace from the demands of the film industry.
The dynamic duo bought a secondhand roaster, which they installed in Carl’s backyard, and the rest is history.
Basically, these guys know their stuff so you can trust the House Blend to deliver the goods.
While checking out the subscription service, have a look around the online shop and you’ll also find 100% compostable coffee capsules, a wide range of equipment, and much more.
