Donald Trump didn’t waste an opportunity to get a few digs in at Elon Musk’s expense during a rally in Anchorage, Alaska on Saturday night.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO had just announced plans to terminate his $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter, which has clearly pissed Trump off as he was likely counting on Musk to help him get back on the platform after being banned.
The former president was also a little irate, naturally, about the fact that Musk didn’t actually vote for him.
At the rally, Trump mixed the mocking with his promise to fight so-called left-wing censorship while also promoting his own social network Truth Social, per NME News.
In the speech where he used all his usual tactics – creating a faux enemy out of anything and anyone to rally support, for one – Trump called his social media platform “hot as a pistol” and called Musk, who at one stage he referred to as “Leon”, a “bullshit artist”.

Trump was banned from Twitter in the wake of the January 6 Capitol riots, a decision that Musk described as “morally bad” and “foolish in the extreme”:
“I would reverse the permanent ban,” Musk said. He continued: “I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake. It alienated a large part of the country, and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice.”
Musk said that by banning Trump, the social media platform risked creating a “frankly worse” forum.
Twitter’s reasoning, if you recall, was to ensure that Trump wouldn’t “encourage and inspire people to replicate the criminal acts that took place at the US Capitol on 6 January 2021”.
The Independent reported that Musk had made it clear on Friday that he was pulling out of the deal to buy Twitter, accusing the company of misleading him:

On the other gripe that Trump pointed out, Musk has indeed said that he plans to vote Republican for the first time in 2022.
He says he has previously voted for Democrats in the past.
