When it comes to famous South Africans in the public eye, there are not many that rack up as many global headlines as tech-billionaire, Elon Musk. Whether it’s him potentially forking out an eye-watering $4 billion for a takeover of the immensely popular social network Twitter, naming his child in an elaborate and ridiculous way or if it looks like Elon Musk has a new girlfriend, his name is, seemingly, never out of the rolling news cycle. With all these distractions, it’s super easy to forget that Musk rose to such prominence because of his masterful business decisions.
He was born in Pretoria on June 28th, 1971 to wealthy parents, and quickly became completely captivated by computers at a young age. This love for the burgeoning world of computer technology resulted in him learning computer programming using a manual, enabling him to even code his own games to sell, all by age twelve. He then moved to Canada in 1989, where he attended Queen’s University in Ontario, before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania, located in the US, where he graduated in 1997.
Instead of continuing his education though, Musk decided to enter the world of Silicon Valley and helped birth several internet start-ups, all of which eventually sold for big bucks. Now with tens of millions of dollars safely in his bank account, he went on to form the two companies that he has become most known for; SpaceX, which specialises in space exploration, and Tesla, known for its revolutionary electric car range.
Now worth a reported $203 billion, making him currently the wealthiest person in the world, it seems that all of Musk’s decisions have paid off massively. He has championed much of his success to his intense penchant for hard work, with Elon Musk reportedly pulling eighty to ninety hour work weeks on average, which scientists reckon has massive impacts on the body and mind. It might appear, then, that the tech giant might not have any time left over for relaxation, but over the years, he has actually let slip what he does in those valuable downtime hours.
One of the biggest ways the famous tech billionaire likes to chill out is by playing video games. Obviously, his earlier years spent designing his own games have enabled him to understand and cherish the joys of gaming, and he has frequently talked about how he loves to get truly lost in a virtual environment.
One of his favourite games seems to be the deadly difficult Elden Ring, which is an action-adventure RPG, that recently came out to huge critical acclaim on both PC and consoles. Musk actually ended up getting into a Twitter spat with online gaming magazines over the game, as he shared his tips for how to play the game, and several publications denounced his advice as awful, which he wasn’t too happy about.
Another game that he’s regularly talked up is The Battle of Polytopia, which was first released in 2016. It’s a turn-based strategy game that obviously allows Musk to stretch his brain muscles when playing. It first appeared on mobiles, but then received a port on both Windows and Mac computers in 2020. The aim of the game is all about world domination, as players race to build a global conquering civilisation as quickly as possible. It seems that Musk enjoys taking over worlds, both in business and in pleasure then.
With a penchant for playing strategic games, and with more than enough money to spare, we wouldn’t be surprised if Musk also revels in playing in online gambling casinos. Interestingly, he’s actually employed a professional poker player as one of the heads of his philanthropy unit, so he already has heavy links to the gambling scene. Online gambling is super popular worldwide, with websites like Arabian Betting catering to those in Arabic and North African countries.
Their amazing online casino reviews let all visitors know exactly which sites are best for their needs. Whether they like to play casino games or bet on sports, they have all the information available for them to find a place that will appeal to them. Plus, in what will be good news for a Bitcoin aficionado like Elon Musk, there are even recommended websites that specialise in Bitcoin casinos and sports betting available. Not to mention all the tantalising offers on show, such as no-deposit cashback deals and free spins on virtual slot machines.
